Why you should check labels for health’s sake…

Did you know….

• The FDA is not screening the ingredients in products we put on our bodies everyday, so they don’t know whether they’re safe or not, they just put them on the shelf

• Equally disturbing – if they are known to cause harm to our health, they don’t have the power to recall the products (like the food industry when there’s a salmonella recall)

• Beautycounter bans any ingredient linked to cancer, neurotoxicity reproductive toxicity, endocrine disruption and more!

These were the key takeaways from a powerful presentation I listened to with Gregg Renfrew founder/CEO of Beautycounter

I highly recommend you begin checking the ingredients on some of your favorite personal care items you use everyday.

What to watch out for: Parabans, fragrance, formaldehyde, phthalates, chemical sunscreens, and ethanolamines to name a few.

You won’t see formaldehyde listed but you may see chemicals listed that release formaldehyde (like 2-bromo-2-nitropropane-I 3-diol, diazolidinyl urea, DMD hydranation, imidazolidinyl urea, sodium hyrdoxymethlglycianate, and quaternium-15)! Yikes!

In sunscreens, watch out for avobenzone, benzophenone, homosalate, octinoxate, octisalate, octocryelne, and oxybexone. These can be endocrine or hormone disruptors plus severe skin irritants especially for babies!

For a list of more ingredients to watch out for, I can send you Beautycounter’s “Never List”. I am always here as a resource.

The more you know, the more power you’ll have to make informed decisions for your health!

I am more inspired and empowered than ever to continue educating, sharing and being part of positive change!
