What Hurts More: Change or Remaining the Same?

The big question is, what hurts more?

Dieting, restricting, binging, yo-yo-ing, beating yourself up, consumed with thoughts about food and your body?

OR

Letting go of control, perfection, food rules, dieting, and accepting and loving your body instead?

It can be extremely uncomfortable letting go of control, food rules, and dieting especially since you might not trust yourself around food. There is a lot of resistance that comes up when trying to make a change which can also be scary and easy to fall back to old patterns, jumping on the next diet.

Maybe you don’t trust yourself without food rules.

Maybe you fear if you stop dieting, you’ll gain a tremendous amount of weight.

Maybe being in control makes you feel safe and the fear of the unknown seems too risky.

But think about where you are and how far you’ve gotten following the same habitual patterns.

Do you feel stuck in a vicious cycle and consumed with food thoughts?

Are you beating yourself up when you “mess up” and sick of continuously starting over?

Are you constantly feeling anxious around food and uncomfortable in your body?

Well then, what do you have to lose?

This seems more risky to me, then letting go and seeing what’s on the other side.

Change is scary, but nothing is as painful as staying stuck somewhere you don’t belong.

There comes a point when the pain of remaining the same outweighs the pain of change.

Once I took the leap and decided I was DONE fighting food and my body, and began letting go of control, I realized that I had the power all along, not FOOD. I was holding myself back from so many opportunities in life, to live, enjoy, experience and grow. All I had to do was let go. Let go of perfection and listen to my body. Let go of food rules and free myself from obsession. Let go of control and start living.

Take the leap and find peace. It’s worth it!
